Welcome

Rosamond Assembly of God, a full gospel Pentecostal church.

We are empowering the saved to carry the gospel to the lost.  For a church is not contained inside the walls of a building.  The building is there for people to gather together to be empowered by God's Holy Word so they can leave the confines of the building and go out and spread the gospel to save lost souls.

Mark 16:15-16 New International Version (NIV)  15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Matthew 28:19-20 New International Version (NIV)  19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

The people of God following and living for Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit, worshiping God, loving each other, and reaching out to the world.

The Story

The Assemblies of God began in 1914 in Hot Springs, AR.  As the movement spread, churches started all over the country.  In May of 1954, around a dozen or so people started holding church meetings in a rented building on 20th Street West.

This dozen or so people were the first congregation of Rosamond First Assembly of God.

The church's first pastor was Pastor Clifford Holderman.  His desire was to help start the church and then hand over the pastorate.  In 1955 Rev. George Brister took over the pastorate of our church and under his leadership the church bought the land at 2881 'C' Street and erected the first church building.  This was in 1956.  In 1959 Rev. Boyd Jackson became the third pastor.  Pastor Jackson had a young family of four children.  During this time the average church attendance was around 80 people.  Four years later Rev. and Sis. Jones became the new pastors.  During his eight years as pastor the church experienced many changes and growth.  One was the building of the annex which housed the Sunday School rooms and the kitchen.  Girls Ministry and Royal Rangers began during this time.  Bro. and Sis. Gonzales, a military family, began the Children's Church.  Our Youth Group were then called "Christ's Ambassador's.  They held monthly youth rallies across the district and ministered in the area with Holy Ghost rallies on Friday nights.  During this time our first adult choir was started.  One of the most memorable revivals was held at this time by Rev. Salvador.  The revival lasted eight weeks with a service every night and two services on Friday nights.  Church attendance grew to over 100 people.  Rev. and Sis. Willard Gray with their son became the pastors in 1971.  He was the first full-time pastor supported completely by the church.  During his ministry he organized the construction that connected the church and annex together.  In 1975, Rev. and Sis. Claude Bryant with their daughter became our pastors.  While they were here, they had a baby boy born to them.  They left in 1978 and Rev. and Sis. Alfred Wallis became our pastor.  They have two children, a son and a daughter.  Under Pastor Wallis' leadership a new church sanctuary was built.  The sanctuary was dedicated on May 10, 1981.  The congregation pulled together to build the sanctuary and because of this it was built for $180,000 less than estimated.

In 1985 the church hired the first full-time Youth Pastor, Rev. Randy Sugarman.  Rev. Sugarman left in 1987 and Rev. and Sis. Bill Johnson took over.  Also, in 1987, our church began its Christian School.  In the 1990’s a Spanish church started using our facilities, which grew and changed throughout the years and became the current Spanish church in the early 2000’s.  In 1994 Charlie Wallis, an Army veteran of the Gulf War and son of Pastor Alfred and Carolyn Wallis, joined our church as Assistant Pastor and our Youth Pastor.  In 1998 & 1999 the congregation pulled together again to complete Minosh Hall.  Minosh Hall was originally slated to be a new larger Christian School, unfortunately the Christian School closed before it was completed.  Minosh Hall now houses Girl’s Ministry, Royal Rangers, Children’s Sunday School and Youth Ministries.  We are empowering the saved to carry the gospel to the lost.  For a church is not contained inside the walls of a building.  The building is there for people to gather together to be empowered by God's Holy Spirit and the Word of God, so they can leave the confines of the building and go out and spread the gospel to save lost souls. and we thank God for the growth the He has given us in the past and the growth that we know we will see again.

Starting in the early 2000’s we explored recording some services and posted them to our website.  Our video production person left which ended our recording of services for many years.  Then in 2019, a long-time member, Mark Thompson started recording our services and live streaming them to our Facebook group page, with his personal cell phone.  (Rosamond Assembly of God).  This ministry has grown with since then with new camera, updated computer and new / expanded audio equipment.  These large and fast advancements were driven by the CoVid-19 pandemic in 2020.  With the church being closed we were determined to keep ministering to our congregation and even beyond.  This has led to livestreaming Sunday School, Sunday Morning Service and our Wednesday Night Bible Study.

We thank God for the growth that He has given us in the past and for the growth that we know we will see again.  We will continue to follow the traditions and vision of the Assemblies of God to reach our world, worship God, disciple believers, and show compassion.
